The Binocular Project

The Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society, in partnership with Donna and Kelly Mulhollan, is raising money to buy binoculars for kids! Your donation of any amount will help put a pair of binoculars in the hands of aspiring, young naturalists and birders!

How to apply

If you are a kid or know a kid who lives in Northwest Arkansas, here's how to apply for a free pair of binoculars!

Guidelines

  • Youth in the 8-12 age group can apply for the binoculars.
  • Only available to youth in Benton, Carroll, Madison, and Washington County.
  • Youth must submit hand-written answers to application questions.
  • No more than 10 pairs of binoculars will be rewarded this round to those youth deemed suitable for receipt of binoculars.
  • We reserve the right to not award all 10 pairs of binoculars if the committee deems applications are inadequate.
  • Membership in NWAAS is encouraged.
  • Recipients will be asked to record birds through the use of field notes. Each winner will receive directions on binocular use, info on creating a Life List, how to use eBird to track bird sightings, and a copy of Toucan Jam's THINGS WITH WINGS CD
  • A committee of Donna and Kelly Mulhollan and Joe Neal will read and rank the applications based on merit.
  • Deadline for applications in January 1st, 2024.
